I’m seriously in a state of shock right now. Please Read.
This is a picture of me and my Grandmother, Genevieve, taken almost exactly a year ago.
So about 9 months ago my grandmother was having a lot of trouble doing normal household tasks. She was falling down a lot and would often become very confused. She wouldn’t even be able to remember what year it was sometimes. She was diagnosed with a terminal Brain Cancer. People with this type of the cancer only lived on average for nine months to one year after being diagnosed. It was so hard to accept it. We were just told to keep on living our life as normal as possible. She was sent home. Things were different, but she seemed to be perfectly fine and happy still.
With the beginning of this year, things had gotten really bad. She was very weak and constantly getting ill. She couldn’t even walk or stand without needing help most of the time. She had been more confused than she ever had been before. Even going back so far as to only remembering when he brother was alive. Her brother had died in the early 90’s. We were told by the doctors that our time was running short and that we should begin to plan further arrangements if necessary. They were telling us that she was going to die.
There was nothing we could do to stop it, all we could do was cherish the time we had left. We didn’t know when, but we knew it was only a matter of time before she was going to be gone. It was heartbreaking.
Today, May 15th, 2012, things have changed. I was sitting with my friends at this little burger place close by my school. Everybody goes there. I had gotten a call from my mother. She had taken my grandmother to one of her periodic checkups with her brain specialist. I answered thinking she was just checking up on me. I was so surprised when it happened to be my grandmother that was on the other end of the line instead. It turns out today my grandmother’s doctor had informed them that she no longer has a brain tumor. Through her treatments it had deminished.
This is the most amazing news I have heard in a long time. I am so pleasantly bewildered and overjoyed at the moment. This is truly the Lord blessing my family. I’m am so grateful to have such a strong and amazing grandmother. Throughout this all she has remained a joyous and beautiful person inside and out. I love her and am so grateful to have her in my life.
The Lord truly does miracles, everybody. Never forget that.
